Atitlan is a mayan word meaning “the place where the rainbow gets its colors”, a fitting name for a place where the elements of water, fire, earth, space and air converge magically to bring forth great natural beauty. This convergence will become the inspiration for deepening our yoga practice, and diving into the sweetness of adbhuta, or
wonder.

As all human beings do, we yearn for information and understanding to give us guidance and confidence as we navigate the labyrinth of life. Wonder is what happens when we accept that there are things we will not understand, and allow ourselves to explore life from a place of curiosity and open-mindedness. The freedom that we give ourselves on retreat, with its inherent reprieve from our usual responsibilities, expectations, and habits, is what allows adbhuta to emerge.

Prices include accommodations, twice daily yoga sessions, “Perfect Health” Ayurvedic course, plus extra meditation and kirtan sessions, vegetarian meals*, unlimited tea and coffee service, filtered drinking water, one group sauna and hot-tub, tour of Santa Cruz pueblo and Artisan Market.

*Fish and chicken are available by request at an extra cost.

Prices are listed per person :
$1270 Single (queen bed) with Private Bathroom and lake view
$1060 Double (queen, two twins, or queen and
twin) with Private Bathroom and lake view
$955 Triple (three twins, queen and twin) with
Private Bathroom and lake view
www.villasumaya.com

Who knows what might happen on a journey that begins with wonder…

We will be hosted by Villa Sumaya, a retreat center on the shore of Lake Atitlan . Our fully-equipped yoga room is called the “ Blue Tiger Temple ” and boasts a lake front location with full panoramic view, hardwood floors, and a glass pyramid sky light. We will begin each day with an active practice incorporating chanting, breathwork, asanas, deep relaxation and meditation, and end the days with a shorter restorative practice to support the organic spiral path into dreamland. In the afternoons, we will commune for an immersion in the timeless wisdom of Ayurveda with Brent Cesare and the “Perfect Health” course.

Your time is your own while we are on retreat. When we are not practicing together in the temple, you may choose to lounge in a hammock, read, birdwatch, kayak, hike the lake basin, swim, or you may take advantage of various daytrips to villages around the lake. Thai massage, Reiki and Swedish deep tissue massage are available upon request, as is access to the outdoor hot tub and sauna.

Mayan culture still rules this area of Guatemala ’s western highlands. You will have many opportunities to experience local culture and round out your experience. Optional additional activities include: Mayan crafts market, pueblo tour, weaving demonstration, and Shamanic healing rituals. You may also like to deepen your sense of connection to the indigenous community by filling up an extra bag with donated clothes and supplies for the non-profit organization Amigos de Santa Cruz.

To register, please mail payment to
Sandi Angotti, 741 Arcadia Ave. Decatur , GA 30030

$500 non-refundable deposit due by April 11.
Total due by May 1.
